Floodline Leak Detection
Early warning of leaking liquids:- WATER - OIL - CHEMICALS
Often unnoticed until too late, leaks and floods are amongst the most
common causes of damage, disruption and loss in any building with important
assets. A single drip can corrupt a computer network, a steady trickle
could ruin priceless works of art and a serious flood will probably
result in chaos for any organisation.
With the modern architectural trend towards services hidden in raised
floors, ceiling voids and ducts the need for leak monitoring and alarm
systems becomes more crucial. All sites which have water services, drains,
air conditioning and sprinkler systems are at risk.
FLOODLINE offers the most comprehensive and sophisticated range of
liquid leak detection products and early warning systems. Many hundreds
of FLOODLINE installations are in current use in areas ranging from
the computer rooms of international banks, dealing rooms of major financial
institutions, Royal palaces, important Government sites and telephone
exchanges to name but a few.
The system employs specially designed water sensing devices strategically
placed at various danger points within the area being monitored. These
are connected in zones to a centrally located control panel. An audible
alarm combined with clear visual indicators show the location and type
of any alarm and the status of the rest of the system which continues
to monitor normally.
The system incorporates:

"Strings" of multi-zone detection cables/tapes, and/or
any number of point, pad, pipe-in-pipe or oil sensors can be connected
singly, in groups or in differing combinations to the same control
panel giving versatility and true "mix and match" flexibility.
A leak in any zone causes the zone LED to flash in unison with
the LEAK warning LED. Likewise a system fault caused by accidental
damage or disconnection of the detection sensor network and leader
cables will cause the LED of the affected zone to flash in unison
with the SYSTEM FAULT warning LED. In any event the buzzer sounds
and the appropriate output relays operate. A MUTE button silences
the buzzer and "accepts" the alarm. The KEY-SWITCH cancels
the outputs while the problem is sorted out.

Multi-Zone Water Detection Cable/Tape Sensor
The unique "Multi-Zone" construction of this water sensitive
cable, or tape, allows it to be sub-divided into many separately reporting
detection zones, of any length, along ONE continuous length of cable.
Applications:
- Below raised floors or in ceiling void following runs of mains,
heating or chilled water pipes, condensate drains, etc.
- Laid in loops or wave pattern for general monitoring of larger
areas
- Tie-wrapped to individual pipes
- Laid around the base of an item of plant, apparatus or tank
 |
|
The detection cable will dry out once the problem has be sorted
out and it can be wetted and dried any number of times. In the event
of accidental damage or bad contamination then only the affected part
need be cut out and a new section easily spliced in.
The detection cable can be connected direct into the Control Panel
or via multi-core leader cable . Special FLOODLINE Junction Boxes
are supplied for leader/detection cable connection and these are
also used for zone-changes and at end of line.

Sensors
 |
|
Point Sensors
A compact device for vertical or horizontal mounting. Water touching
its stainless steel probes causes the alarm to be activated. Nearly
always used with the coated metal Floodline Guard Plate for heavy
duty physical protection, fixing assistance and level adjustment.
The Point Sensor is used in areas where Detection Cable could be
easily damaged or where some wetting or spillage is expected or
of little concern. For example a plant room or basement.
|
|
|
|
Pad Sensors
A lightweight pliable plastic detection pad used for sensitive detection
under specific danger points such as valves or pipe joints or wrapped
around them. Also useful in confined spaces.
A removable fabric cover assists absorbency and protects the sensing
surfaces. After wetting, the cover can be removed for drying or
replaced with a spare
|
|
|
|
Pipe Sensors
Monitors the space between the inner and outer pipes in double containment
pipe systems used in critical areas or where the pipe contents may
be particularly damaging or harmful. The device can also be used
in overflow pipes to incorporate a "tell-tale" alarm into
the system.
The Floodline Pipe-in-pipe sensor is offered in two versions: for
water based liquids and for oils.
A variety of housings are available the most usual being sealed
in a ½" BSP male fitting to screw into an equivalent
female threaded socket provided at strategic points in the outer
pipe.
Alternatively the device can be inserted directly into the cavity,
or annulus, created between the inner and outer pipes
